Kate Wood has been teaching children oil painting at Alizarin Crimson Studio since 2001.

"It's very rewarding. They all make me so proud." Kate says. Instructing ages 9 and up, "Can be exhausting, class is a blur of activity. When I see the beautiful things they create, it makes it all worthwhile. They get such a sense of accomplishment, and have so much talent."

The studio has been operating in Stuart for 25 years. "It's time to showcase our junior artists" says owner Georgia Abood.

The children choose their own subject and paint at their own pace. " Class is very individualized. I'm constantly amazed by the range of paintings. I teach the children the same techniques I use in my adult classes, and the results are really impressive."

Many students have entered their work in local art shows and contests. One young student, Karissa DeMauro, was accepted into the Bean E. Backus juried  art show, "I've never gotten into that show!" Kate laughs.

Another student, Connor Jewitt, is hoping to raise money by selling his painting. His family is trying to adopt an African orphan. He has completed several paintings commissioned by people who want to help the Jewitts.

"We want to invite the community to meet our young artists and see the wonderful works they create. Even if you just come for the hors d'oeuvres, you'll leave having seen the next generation of artists in Stuart"
